Mrs. Elsie E. STARNES 55 the mother of 11 children died at about six o'clock Monday morning at the family home near Browns Valley from a heart atack. Mrs. Starnes was born north of New Market the daughtter of James A. and Bettie VanCleave Hardee. She married Vernon Starnes June 16, 1916. Surviving are the husband; five sons Mont of near Browns Valley; Earl in Army service in England; Richard of Terre Haute; Harold of Indianapolis and Bob at home; six daughters, Mrs. Eileen Smith of Anderson; Mrs. Lora Lee Farris of Mason CIty, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Dewitt of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Margaret Campbell of Paris, Illinois and Betty and Donna at home; the mother Mrs. Bettie Hardee of Crawfordsville; two sisters, Miss Lillian Hardee of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Dora Swisher of New Market, a brother Roy Hardee of Crawfordsville and four grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Wednesday at 2:00 o'clock at the Noble Reeves Funeral Home with Rev. CL Airhart conducting the service with burial at Indian Creek Cemetery. -- kbz
